Simon Cowell Says He Had A Major Issue With American Idol And Reveals What It Was!

Simon Cowell used to be a central part of American Idol for a long time but when he left and continued his judge job, but on America’s Got Talent’s instead, it turns out that he had a very good reason. The man revealed that he had some ‘major issues’ and revealed what those were during a brand new interview.

Simon explained while chatting with a reporter for HollywoodLife that the main thing that really bothered him was the fact that the long-running series had a strict age limit of 28.

In other words, the contestants could be no younger than 16 and no older than 28!

That was the case, without exception, for most of his years as a judge on American Idol.

‘How can you say, ‘You can’t be a star [because of your age].’ And I found the word ‘Idol’ pretty obnoxious to be honest with you. And why is a 35 year old not as great as an 18 year old? I just got to the point where this isn’t real, which is why I moved on [to the US version of The X Factor and then to America’s Got Talent],’ Simon explained to the news outlet.

But even though he had that problem with the show, it is not to say he did not appreciate it at all!

Cowell, who was a judge on the show from 2002 to 2010, explained that: ‘I mean I still like the show, and I was lucky because I went through the purple period with artists I am still friends with now. And we’ve remained amazingly good friends, we speak, hang out and talk. So I had the good years!’
