Sports star sells: TV star, sports presenter, Channel 9, Sam Squiers, firefighter, NSW,

POPULAR sports presenter Sam Squiers and her husband, Ben, have put their Brisbane home on the market as they prepare to return to New South Wales.

After a five-year bid to try and have her firefighter husband transferred without losing rank failed, the star has made the “agonising” decision to leave Channel 9 Queensland.

Ben, a senior firefighter with Fire and Rescue NSW, had been commuting between Brisbane and Sydney for work since the pair made the move north for Sam’s career.

But the situation became “impossible” after the dramatic premature birth of their now one-year-old daughter Imogen, who spent 44 days in hospital care.

It means they have decided to sell their two-bedroom house in the sought-after suburb of Bardon, bordering Jubilee Park.

The post-war home on an elevated block has a front deck to enjoy the views over the park.

It has been renovated to a high-standard, featuring polished hardwood floors, a kitchen with stone benchtops and quality appliances, and the bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.

There is a courtyard at the back and a laundry room with separate toilet.

The house is on an average 407 sqm block and there is scope to extend/raise subject to council approval.

Records show the couple paid $704,000 for the property at auction in 2015.

It has been listed without a price guide through Jacob Pirrone of Pirrone Property.

The couple’s dog, Broby, also makes a special guest appearance in the marketing photos for the home.

Sam will continue her work with Sportette and Surfing Australia TV, as well as some hosting on Wide World of Sports in NSW.
